Happiness in Young Children

/data/dynamic/spaw/documents/voachild final report.pdf

Voice of A Child: a life impact survey delivered through the arts, which set out to explore the happiness of young children under 5 living in Lambeth. Commissioned by Lambeth early years service as a directive from DFES (Informed by the UNICEF report), which expected every borough to deliver a strategy for ‘listening to children’.

A creative arts toolkit was developed, to gather information on how the daily lives of young children under 5 living in Lambeth, could impact on their mental well being. It was not a formal mental well being impact assessment, but a general snapshot.

The information was gathered through field action research using the fun and creative activities, with especially designed child friendly indicators, to different environments and aspects to their lives.

Acclaimed artists in the fields of Visual Arts, Dance/ Drama and Music were commissioned to produce specially written activities for the project that then formed part of the data analyzed.
