Dance Brings Dementia Research to Life

/data/dynamic/spaw/documents/Beyond the walls flyer II 2.pdf

Imagine the sounds of birds chirping, crunch of autumn leaves, smell of scented spring flowers, shared songs and an impulse to move. This multi-sensory interactive arts performance brings to life cutting- edge research into improving life with dementia

An exciting piece of contemporary dance, performed by Age Exchange’s project partners Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, dance artists set to an original live and interactive music score.

We will take you on an evocative journey through dance, objects and music. Memories and relationships are moved through the space to exist beyond the walls of the care home.

This project is part of Age Exchange’s RADIQL wellbeing and dementia research programme carried out by Royal Holloway University London & funded by Guys and St Thomas’ Charity. Visual artists and dancers shared their collaborative exploration of art; creative encounters, song, music, movement and objects with residents living with dementia in a Wandsworth borough care home. The performance is inspired by the research,  and interaction with the residents. After the performance a panel discussion explores the outcomes, a creative response to person-centred care and this dance project.
