Dementia Training


One-day specialist participatory training for people who work or care for people with dementia

Free if you live or work in Wandsworth

This interactive 1 day workshop will help you to:

·       Learn practical approaches to have meaningful engagement with people living with dementia

·       Develop person/ relationship- centered creative approaches to engage in verbal or non- verbal ways and support people to express themselves in their own way

·       Understand our evidenced Reminiscence Art method for wellbeing for people with dementia


At the end of the day participants will be able to:

1) Use music/ art/ movement to improve mood and support communication 2) understand how movements communicate stories and embodied memories; perceived challenging behaviours, reduce agitation 3) strengths and person- centred approaches, using objects/ artifacts and people’s own possessions to engage meaningfully and support conversations 4) Include people in respectful and dignified ways

Based on our research (RADIQL) demonstrating 42% improvement in mood & 25% positive behaviours.

Venue:  Royal Academy of Dance, The Fonteyn Lecture room 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA (Close to Battersea Park over ground, 170 bus from Clapham Junction)

Cost Free for those who live or work in Wandsworth. or donation £10  on the day

Mapping to external qualifications: CPD Certificate of Attendance will support standards in the care Certificate & selected CQC standards of care requirements
